2027 National Exam Dates in the Exam Study Planner
The planner is built around the dates the Department of Examinations announced on 24 August 2026. These are the main exam dates, not the subject-by-subject timetables, which are released closer to each exam.
| Examination | Announced date |
|---|---|
| Grade 5 Scholarship Examination | 1 August 2027 |
| G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) | 3 – 28 August 2027 |
| General Information Technology (GIT) | 24 October 2027 |
| G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) | 7 – 17 December 2027 |

Dates can change. Always follow the latest notice and timetable from the Department of Examinations at doenets.lk. If a date moves, we will update this page and the PDF.
What’s Inside the Planner
- Page 1 – Cover and key dates: the four 2027 exams with dates, in English, Sinhala and Tamil.
- Page 2 – 2027 year at a glance: all 12 months with the exam days coloured in, and a “My goal” line for every month.
- Page 3 – Weekly study timetable: Monday to Sunday, from early morning to night, plus a past-paper slot and weekly goals.
- Page 4 – Subject revision tracker: list each subject and the lessons still to revise, tick off past papers and rate your confidence from 1 to 5.
- Page 5 – Countdown plan and exam-day checklist: what to focus on 6, 3 and 1 months before, the final two weeks, a checklist for exam day, and a monthly habit tracker.
How to Use It
- Download the PDF and print it on A4 paper. Print page 3 several times – one for each week – or laminate it and use a whiteboard marker.
- On page 2, colour in your school term tests, holidays and tuition breaks next to the exam dates.
- On page 4, write every subject and break it into the lessons you still need to revise.
- Each Sunday, fill in next week’s timetable on page 3 and set 3–5 small goals.
- After every past paper, tick a box on page 4 and re-rate your confidence. Spend more time on the subjects with the lowest score.
BrightNook Tips
- Plan backwards from the exam. Count the months left on page 2 and decide which month each subject’s revision must be finished.
- One past paper a week beats five in the last month. Start timed past papers early and mark them honestly.
- Keep it where you can see it. A planner in a drawer doesn’t help. Stick the year page on the wall near your study table.
- Grade 5 parents: keep study sessions short and regular, and use the habit tracker to build a routine rather than long weekend cramming.
- A/L and O/L students: write down the mistakes you keep making. That list becomes your best revision sheet in the final two weeks.
