Who can apply for the OUSL HRM Advanced Certificate?
Every applicant must be above 16 years of age and meet at least one of the following entry routes stated by OUSL:
- Successfully complete 30 credits at SLQF Level 1 or above, or complete any certificate course conducted by OUSL; or
- Pass six subjects at the Sri Lankan G.C.E. O/L examination in one sitting, including Mathematics and First Language, with at least two Credit passes; or
- Pass NVQF Level 3 in a relevant field acceptable to the OUSL Senate; or
- Hold an equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the OUSL Senate.
What will students learn?
The certificate is intended for people beginning or developing a career in human resource management. OUSL describes it as combining theoretical knowledge with practical competencies for managing people and addressing workplace HR issues.
The published learning outcomes cover areas such as:
- understanding theoretical and practical aspects of HR management;
- applying HR knowledge to workplace problems;
- planning and carrying out HR activities;
- developing HR strategies and policies; and
- managing human capital to support performance and productivity.
OUSL also states that successful completion provides direct entry to its Bachelor of Management Studies Honours degree programme. Students should confirm the current progression and registration conditions with the university when planning to continue.
Application fee and course fee
The Rs. 500 application fee is separate from the Rs. 39,100 total course fee. The published course fee can be paid in two instalments:
- First instalment: Rs. 24,700
- Second instalment: Rs. 14,400
