Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to candidates who successfully completed the Sri Lankan G.C.E. (A/L) examination in 2025 or a preceding year. Each programme has its own subject, stream, O/L and employment requirements, so applicants should read the official admission guideline before selecting preferences.
Priority is given to eligible full-time applicants below 23 years of age as at the closing date and to applicants who completed the 2025 A/L examination. Selection is also subject to available places at each Advanced Technological Institute.
How Students Are Selected
Category 1 programmes use the applicant’s A/L Z-Score. These include Accountancy, Business Administration, Business Finance, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Building Services Engineering, Agriculture and Food Technology.
Category 2 programmes use an approved marking scheme. These include English, Information Technology, Management, Project Management, and Tourism and Hospitality Management.
How to Apply Online
- Open the official SLIATE application portal.
- Read the admission guideline and check the entry requirements for each course.
- Select up to 10 preferred ATI and HND programme combinations.
- Pay the Rs. 1,000 application fee using the official payment instructions. GovPay is available through supported banking apps.
- Enter the payment transaction reference number in the online application.
- Check every detail carefully before confirming the application.
- Download and print the system-generated application.
- Sign the printed application and send it with the payment receipt by registered post to the applicant’s first-preference ATI.
Important: Why Some Notices Still Show 3 August
The original 2026 Gazette notice and earlier admission guideline listed 3 August 2026 as the deadline. Some search results and downloaded copies may therefore continue to display the old date. However, the latest official SLIATE notice states that the closing date was extended up to 23 August 2026.
Because the extended deadline has passed, use the application portal only for verification unless SLIATE publishes a new intake or reopening notice. Always check official payment instructions before sending money.
Programme Fees
Full-time SLIATE HND programmes are offered free of charge. Part-time programmes have semester fees, and a refundable deposit may apply. Applicants should check the official notice for the current fee applicable to their chosen programme.
